Knowing but Never Knowing

by Jack Manor

Thought: Jesus promises a full and meaningful life (John 10:10), yet some people wrongly suppose that they will miss old habits and old hobbies if they commit to follow him. So, they live on knowing their need but never knowing the Savior. There is only one remedy for this dilemma: look away from what has been, look toward what can be, and embrace the adventurous life of Christ.

Verse: "Jesus answered, . . . 'If anyone chooses to do God's will, he will find out whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own."

Quote: "O Father, let me not be dissipated on non-essentials. Bring the Word to me in power; sublimate these huge hungers to the obedience of Christ. Above all these things, I would have holiness. Teach me the path of faith." -- Jim Elliot
