"Behold, I lay in Zion a choice stone, a precious cornerstone, and he who believes in Him will not be disappointed" (1 Pt. 2:6).

Prayer for Special Times

"The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord

is the defense of my life; whom shall I dread? . . . Though a

host encamp against me, my heart will not fear;

though war arise against me, in spite of

this I will be confident"

(Psalm 27:1, 3).

Heavenly Father, I am powerless to stop many of the circumstances in life that fill me with fear. Sin, brokenness, evil, pain, sickness, disease, and death are the stuff that life on earth is too often made of. Yet, I have the promise of scripture that fear does not have to conquer me, because you are with me; you are at my side (Ps. 118:6). I know in my mind that when circumstances occur that confuse and boggle my understanding, you will, by your grace, give me understanding as needed (Ps. 111:10; 119:104). Help me, by your grace, to put what I know in my mind into practice in my living. I know in my mind that even the worst that can happen to me will only usher me into your presence forever, for you have saved me in Jesus Christ for yourself, and your salvation is as effectual now as it will be in eternity (2 Cor. 5:8). Help me, by your grace, to put what I know in my mind into practice in my living. Even if an army were to surround me to strip me of all that is dear, I know in my mind that I am surrounded by you, for you have dispatched the armies of heaven to be concerned for me and to guard me (Ps. 91:11). Help me, by your grace, to put what I know in my mind into practice in my living. My confidence, O my God and my Deliverer, is in you. I will face every fear with these truths. I will trust in you. I will hope in you. I will rest in you. In Jesus' name, Amen.

When Facing Fear

by Jack Manor

Fears see only in part. They see that we might lose something dear to us, such as our money, our health or the health of someone we love. They see the potential for loss with microscopic acuity. But they don’t see God’s presence, they don’t see His faithfulness to His promises, they don’t fixate on unseen realities but are dominated by what is merely seen with the naked eye." -- Edward Welch, https://gracequotes.org/?topic=fear-general&author-quote=&s=
